How many coffee beans do you have to eat to get the equivalent caffeine of a cup of coffee?
I don’t care if it sounds gross just tell me please
I eat coffee beans occasionally (and I love chocolate covered beans).
The caffeine content will vary depending on the bean type and the roast. A robusta bean has more caffeine than arabica, but it also has an earthier/harsher taste; and a light roast has more caffeine than a dark roast does (the longer it is roasted, the more caffeine is destroyed).
An “average” content would be about 3mg per coffee bean figuring that a cup of drip coffee is 40-50 beans and can be 100-175mg of caffeine (137.5/45= 3.05).
Is there any cure for I.B.S? ( ireetabal boul syndrome)?
No cures, but there are plenty of ways to manage it.
Dairy products. Some IBS sufferers are also lactose intolerant, which means they can’t digest lactose, the sugar found naturally in milk and other dairy products. (Yogurt and hard cheeses don’t seem to cause any symptoms because their bacterial content converts much of the lactose to lactic acid before they’re consumed.) To find out if you are indeed lactose intolerant, a physician can do a simple breath test on you to check. If you are, lactase enzyme is available in tablet form and even in some food products to help alleviate the symptoms. Whole-milk dairy products also contain fat, which may be an irritant. Opt instead for products made with low fat or skim milk.

As appealing as citrus fruits look, they are a no-no for those
who suffer the painful effects of irritable bowel syndrome.
Citrus fruits. Of all the types of fruit, citrus varieties, such as oranges and tangerines, seem to be the most common offenders.
Gas producers. The last thing an IBS sufferer needs is more gas. Among the offenders: onions, beans, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, red and green peppers, and carbonated beverages. Many of these offenders are rich in nutrients, however, so experiment with smaller amounts or different cooking methods or try the gas-busting additive Beano before removing these foods from your diet.
Spicy foods. Forgo the spices in your dishes and see if that makes a difference.
Wheat products. Those who find that foods containing wheat are a problem should consult their physician as to how to maintain or increase their fiber intake without using wheat.
Sugar. Some IBS sufferers have what’s known as fructose intolerance and have difficulty digesting fructose (fruit sugar). Sucrose, or table sugar, may also trigger their symptoms.
Chocolate. It not only contains caffeine but high amounts of sugar and fat.
Caffeine. Found in coffee, tea, chocolate, cola, and even some medications, caffeine can stimulate the intestines and cause heartburn and cramping.
Alcohol. Alcohol can cause diarrhea.
Cigarettes. Smoking may have an effect on the motility, or movement, of the digestive system.
Fat. Fatty meats, butter, and oils are more difficult for the body to digest.
Sugarless gum and candy. Specifically, those made with sorbitol can aggravate IBS symptoms because the artificial sweetener is not digestible.
In addition to watching what you eat, you may be able to control your symptoms by taking medication (laxatives, antidiarrheals, tranquilizers, or antidepressants), but you should discuss any drug treatment with your doctor first. Doctors generally hesitate to prescribe strong and sometimes addictive drugs (which may cause other digestive side effects) to treat IBS, because the root cause of the condition isn’t understood, and it seldom leads to serious complications.
In addition to going to a doctor, there are alternative ways to treat irritable bowel syndrome, such as exercise and reducing stress. We’ll cover these home remedies in the following section.
Since there is no medical cure for irritable bowel syndrome, people who suffer from it can grow frustrated and despondent. This needn’t be the case, though. There are plenty of alternative home remedies to rein in IBS:
Keep a diary. This is important in helping you and your doctor determine what the cause of your discomfort may be or what factors may aggravate it. For about two weeks, keep a record of what you’ve eaten, the kind of mood you’re in, the stress you’re experiencing, and how your stomach feels. (Women should also record the dates of their menstrual period, since some women suffer more acutely from IBS around the time of their period.)
By writing down your stresses, for instance, you may be able to pinpoint their causes and, as a result, take necessary action to change a stressful circumstance. And you may be able to cut back on or eliminate certain foods that appear to aggravate your symptoms.
Learn how to relax. Stress tends to exacerbate IBS. In fact, some sufferers have their most serious bouts of IBS soon after a stressful situation. The first step in learning how to relax is to simply be aware of when your muscles have tensed up, so you can undo that tension.
One technique for easing that tension is progressive muscle relaxation. One by one, you purposely tense, or tighten, and then relax each muscle group throughout the body. This allows you to become more aware of what your muscles feel like when they are tense and when they are relaxed.
While this technique can be helpful for some people, you should try different methods of relaxation and see what suits you best.
Be ready to roll with the punches. Too often, people see the world in black and white instead of shades of gray — they are perfectionists who are unwilling to compromise. This kind of attitude can have a negative effect on the digestive system. Indeed, people who have a healthy outlook on life may stay healthier and not suffer so severely from IBS. So IBS sufferers can help themselves by confronting and understanding their fears and concerns. A professional counselor may be of help.

Does IBS have you down and out?
Try exercising moderately.
Picture yourself in stress-free surroundings. Visualization is a relaxation technique that helps carry you away from your stress. Close your eyes and dream up a relaxing scene; focus on it in detail, noting the way things look, sound, smell, feel, and taste. You may find that relaxation tapes or tapes of soothing nature sounds or music can help you visualize relaxing scenes.
Exercise. Activity helps the digestive system work properly. Exercise can also aid IBS sufferers by distracting them from their symptoms and by promoting the release of endorphins, the body’s feel-good hormones that help control pain. Opt for moderate exercise, because strenuous workouts may cause diarrhea. Long-distance runners, for instance, have been known to suffer from “the runs.”
Take a deep breath when stressed. This is the quickest, easiest way to release tension from your body when there’s no time for exercise or more-involved relaxation techniques. Breathe deeply and slowly, allowing your chest to rise and fall slowly and purposefully. Focus on the intake and outflow of your breath.
Eat more slowly. If you gobble down your food, you’re more likely to swallow air, which can travel through the digestive system in the form of intestinal gas. Chewing gum can also cause you to swallow air.
Eat several smaller meals. Large meals can overload the digestive system, causing cramping and diarrhea. Smaller, more frequent meals over the course of the day are easier for the body to handle.
Drink between meals. Drink liquids between meals instead of with them. Drinking when you eat dilutes digestive juices and frustrates digestion.
Try a hot bath. A hot bath may relieve stomach cramping. Or, apply hot compresses or a heating pad to your abdomen.
Watch your use of laxatives. Magnesium-based laxatives are relatively safe to use (except by those with kidney problems), although it’s still best to discuss them with your doctor before you try them, since some doctors prefer that their IBS patients skip laxatives altogether. Also, check labels and follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully — overusing laxatives that contain stimulants can harm your intestines.
What is the caffeine content of a chocolate covered coffee bean?

I NEED SOME ADVICE ON MY NEW DOG?
In early March I bought a 2 year old Miniature Poodle. He is the sweetest dog, but he only wants to eat table food. I suppose the previous owners fed him left overs. I am uncomfortable with this. I would prefer to feed him dog food. Can any give me advice on how I can switch him over without making him go hungry? Or if it is ok to feed table food, what is acceptable and what not? Also he doesn’t have a bowl movement daily he goes every other day or so….is this okay? Thank in advance to everyone that replies. I really love my Pepper and I want to be a good pet owner.
There is an ongoing debate on whether dog food or an all natural raw diet is better for your furry friend. If you chose to continue the human food regimen, here is a list of good and bad foods. Personally, I never feed my dogs table scraps, especially directly from the table. It makes for a bad habit and the last thing I want is my dogs begging my guests or bothering me while I’m enjoying my dinner. I don’t bother them. Lol…
From personal experience, my bulldogs eat all natural logistic gluten/wheat free dry dog food and they have regular bm’s twice a day. You ell find that every dog is different, but the majority will have at least one per day.
You could always follow the list, but feed pepper in his dog bowl, so everyone wins!
Table Foods that are Safe for Your Dog
Rice and pasta, as long as they are not covered in fatty cheeses or gravies, make great fillers for dieting dogs.
Green beans and carrots are low fat, low calorie snacks that most dogs enjoy.
Cooked non fatty meats such as poultry in small amounts make a tasty snack for your pet.
Cottage cheese and plain yogurt are a healthy snack providing protein and probiotics.
Boiled or scrambled eggs are another good treat for dogs due to their vitamin and protein content.
Fruits such as apples, bananas, and seedless watermelon taste good to most dogs. They can also be frozen for a nice summer treat. Remember to remove fruit pits and seeds as some of these can be toxic or can cause digestive blockages.
Low fat peanut butter or air popped popcorn without butter and salt in small amounts makes a great snack.
Here are a lost of foods that are bad for your dog:
Bread dough (raw yeast)
Coffee (grounds, beans, brewed)
Milk/ice cream/dairy products
Nuts (macadamia nuts, walnuts & some others)
Onions and onion powder
Pits from peaches, plums, cherries & apricots
Potato leaves, stems & green skins
Tobacco & nicotine products
Xylitol (found in sugar-free products)
Are chocolate covered coffee beans bad for you?
I LOVE chocolate covered coffee beans, especially dark chocolate covered. Are they bad for you and just how bad are they? How often and how many are safe to have?
In moderation, no. How many beans depends on the caffeine content of the beans which is nearly impossible to determine as it will vary from maker to maker etc. For estimation purposes assume a 15-20 beans will equal about 1 cup of coffee. Add on a little more for the caffeine content of the chocolate. The recommend daily maximum intake of caffeine is roughly 300mg, this a little under the amount in 3 cups of coffee. So you would be okay consuming 45-60 beans a day…. BUT
you must take into consideration the amount of caffeine you are getting from other sources such as soda or energy drinks. (35-120mg of caffeine per beverage)
4 PART QUESTION: part 1?
Ok. Can anyone help me with my general diet that I have been refining? Some days I usually break my eating habits with some chocolate or other fats. I do not exercise everyday, but I go for a run and do sprints about 3 times a week. Usually 2 long runs and one sprint ( cause sprints leave me feeling sore all over). I do weights as well and have begun to do some P90X classes, but I haven’t bin following their exact workout plan. My rest calorie intake is around 2000- 2500. This is usually a school day, other days I have more meat and other sources of dairy. I’m a male by the way, who is trying to get lean and then gain muscle. (not too skinny though) I way 80 kilograms, and am 172 cm tall. I am 16 years old.
Morning (6:30); I do the P90X Ab blaster before breakfast.
Then at around 7:00, after I have a shower I have 1 bowl of bran (says high protein on box), 2 wheat biscuits with low fat milk, 1 cup of orange juice. 3 Fish oil tablets and 1 Vitamin C.
Rapid Weight Loss Plan
This diet is also a fast and is fat- burning. The key is that you will burn many more calories than you will take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well- being. This diet does no lend itself to drinking any alcoholic beverages at any time b/c of the removal of fat build- up in your system. Go off the diet for at least twenty-hours before consuming any alcohol.
Because each person’s digestive system is different, this diet will not have the same effect on everyone. After three days, if you don’t cheat, you will have more energy that before you began. After you have been on the diet for several days, you may find that your bowel movements have changed and you may need to eat a cup of bran or fiber. Although you can have black coffee with this plan, after the third day you may find that you don’t need the caffeine.
The Basic Fat Burning Soup can and should be eaten anytime you feel hungry… eat as much as you want. Remember, the more of the soup you eat, the more you will lose.
Definite no-no’s on the plan are:
• Carbonated drinks (including diet)
• All fried foods
This diet will not interfere with any prescribed medication. You can eat broiled chicken for the beef if you wish, but absolutely no skin on the chicken. If you wish you can substitute broiled fish for beef on one of the beef days. You need the high protein from beef on the other day. Continue this plan as long as you wish and feel better both mentally and physically.
The Basic Fat Burning Soup
6 large onions
1 to 2 cans of tomatoes
1 large head of cabbage
2 green peppers
I bunch of celery
1 package of Lipton soup mix
Season with salt, pepper, curry, parsley if desired, or bullion, or hot sauce.
Cut vegetables in small to medium pieces and cover with water. Boil fast for ten minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue cooking until vegetables are tender. This soup can be eaten anytime you are hungry. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want as this soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you will lose. Fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day. If eaten alone for an indefinite period of time, you would suffer malnutrition.
All fruits except bananas. Cantaloupe and watermelon are lower in calories than most fruits. Eat only fruits with soup. For drinks, use unsweetened tea, cranberry juice or water
All vegetables eat al the fresh, raw or canned vegetables until you are stuffed. Try to eat green, leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas, corn. Eat them along with the soup. At dinner only on this day, reward yourself with a big baked potato and butter. Do not eat any fruits.
Eat the soup, fruits and veggies you want. Do not have a baked potato.
If you have eaten as specified for three days, and have not cheated, you will find you have lost between five to seven pounds.
Bananas and skimmed milk. Eat as many as three bananas and drink as many glasses of water as you can, along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates as is the milk, but on this particular day your body will need potassium, carbohydrates, proteins and calcium to lessen you craving for sweets.
Beef and vegetables. You may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef plus a can of tomatoes or as many as six fresh tomatoes on this day. Try to drink six to eight glasses of water to flush the uric acid from your body. Eat the soup at least once on this day.
Beef and vegetables. Eat the beef and veggies to your hearts content on this day. You can even have two or three steaks if you like, with green, leafy veggies but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least one time.
Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and veggies. Once again, eat all you want. Be sure to have the soup at least one time.
At the end of the seventh day, you should have lost ten to seventeen pounds if you have not cheated. If you have lost more than fifteen pounds, stay off the diet for two days before resuming the diet from one day.
This seven- day eating plan can be used as often as you like. If correctly followed, it will cleanse your system of impurities and make you feel better than ever.
After only seven days, you will have an abundance of energy and will feel much lighter. Continue with the plan as long as you wish as feel the difference!
How much caffeine is in one Robusta Coffee Bean?
I’m not talking about ordinary Arabica beans. I know they have 12mg/bean. This is based on some googling that says 3 chocolate covered coffee beans = 36mg of caffeine. Not sure if those are Arabica or Robusta but I am assuming they are Arabica.
I’m asking about the high caffeine content Robusta beans.
All I can find out is that Robusta beans have more caffeine but not how much more.
My guess since the same amount of espresso has 2.5 times more caffeine if its made with Robusto beans and 3 Chocolate Covered Coffee beans(Arabica I assume)= 36mg….about 30mg = 1 Robusto Bean. Wow! Seems high.
Anyone got a better answer…with proof?
I don’t care, I’m just collecting points, answering old questions, then voting myself as best answer!
i need a plan on how to lose 2, 5 lbs /week and stick to it for 8-10 weeks. my biggest weakness…chocolate

* 1 or 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
* 3 plus large green onions
* 1 large can of beef broth (no fat)
* 1 pkg. Lipton Soup mix (chicken noodle)
* 1 bunch of celery

* 2 lbs. Carrots
* 2 Green Peppers
Season with salt, pepper curry, parsley, if desired, or bouillon, hot or Worcestershire sauce. Cut veggies in small to medium pieces. Cover with water. Boil fast for 10 minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue to cook until veggies are tender.

* Unsweetened juices
* Tea (also herbal)
* Cranberry juice
* Skim milk
* Water, water, water
Any fruit (except bananas). Cantaloupes and watermelon are lower in calories than most other fruits. Eat only soup and fruit today.
All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with fresh raw, cooked or canned veggies. Try to eat green leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas or corn. Eat veggies along with the soup. At dinnertime tonight reward yourself with a big baked potato and butter. Don’t eat any fruits through today.
Eat all the soup, fruit and veggies you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten as above for three days and not cheated, you should find that you have lost 5-7 pounds.
Bananas and skim milk: Eat at least 3 bananas and drink as much milk as you can today, along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates, as is the milk but on this particular day, your body will need the potassium and carbs. Proteins and calcium to lessen the cravings for sweets.
Beef and tomatoes: you may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes, or as many as 6 tomatoes on this day. Eat the soup at least once today.
Beef and veggies, eat to your heart’s content of the beef and veggies today. You can even have 2-3 steaks if you like with green leafy veggies but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once today.
Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and veggies, again, be sure to stuff yourself and eat the soup. You can add cooked veggies to your rice if you wish.
By the end of the 7th day, if you have not cheated on this diet, you should have lost 10 to 17 pounds. If you have lost more than 17 pounds, stay off the diet for two days before resuming the diet again.
This diet is fast. The secret lies within the principle that you will burn more calories than you take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. This diet does not lend itself to drinking any alcoholic beverages at any time. Because of the fat build-up in your system. Go off the diet at least 14 hours before any intake of alcohol.
Due to the variety of digestive systems in individuals, this diet will affect everyone differently. After day three, you will have more energy than when you began, if you do not cheat. After being on the diet for several days, you will find that your bowel movements have changed. Eat a cup of bran or fiber. Although you can have black coffee with this diet, you may find that you don’t need caffeine after the third day.
The basic fat burning soup can be eaten anytime you feel hungry during the seven days. Eat as much as you wish. Remember the more you eat, the more you will lose. You can eat broiled, boiled or baked chicken instead of the beef. Absolutely no skin on the chicken. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef on only one of the beef days. You need the high protein in the beef for the other days.
Continue on the diet as long as you wish and feel the difference both mentally and physically.
DO NOT – DO NOT
No bread, alcohol, carbonated drinks (including diet drinks). Remember, absolutely no fried foods.
DO – DO – DO – DO
Drink plenty – at least 6 to 8 glasses – of water a day, as well as any combination of the following beverages: black coffee, unsweetened fruit drinks, cranberry juice and skim milk.
This diet comes from the Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital that is used for overweight heart patients in order to lose weight rapidly, usually prior to surgery.
starbucks via..ok to eat coffee?
so i bought some starbucks via….not bad…the starbucks lady said that its not actually instant coffee….its regular coffee thats just been ground up to the consistency of talcum powder..no need for a filter, you just swallow it all. I was wondering if it were dangerous to injest coffee grounds like that….surely the caffeine content would be higher because i’m actually eating the coffee.
I guess real instant coffee is just some kinda flavour crystal or something.
Well first of all, it is both instant coffee and “microground” coffee. It is a mix. The ground coffee is what gives it the brewed flavor.
Swallowing coffee grinds is harmless (I happen to enjoy chocolate covered coffee beans, and have been known to eat regular beans as well), and the caffeine content wouldn’t really be noticably higher. There is no problem with eating coffee grounds.
